Anodized aluminum products are finished by coloring with anodizing.
Please understand that anodizing has the following characteristics and weak points.
●Machining marks caused by cutting
The wheel is produced by machining.
Since products as large as wheels are processed and finished by "total machining, " there will be fine "cutting marks" on the products.
We evaluate such "cutting marks" in terms of finishing, considering the wheel as a functional part.
●Anodized aluminum treatment
Anodizing is applied as a finishing of the wheels.
Anodizing is a process that creates an anodic oxide film on the aluminum surface, which has the advantage of improving corrosion and corrosion resistance, but because it is a process that applies a film to the surface of the product, it cannot hide the "cutting marks" described in the previous section, unlike a painted finish.

The current Marchesini wheels (*1), both magnesium and aluminum, are made by the "forging method".
Forging is a process that originated in the technology of blacksmiths in ancient times, and is a method of creating products by hitting (=forging) metal with a hammer from various directions until the desired contour (shape) is achieved.
The process of forging a wheel starts by compressing high-temperature metal in a high-pressure press to form a "blank material (*2) ", but the principle and purpose of the process are the same.
The typical feature of forged products is the "improvement of various metal properties (strength, elongation rate, etc.) " by this process, and in the case of wheels, it can be said that this process has great potential for weight reduction and safety improvement.
The basic performance of forged products from a technical point of view is determined by the grain size and heat treatment conditions in the metal.However, the greatest merit obtained by forging is the "Metal Flow Direction (MFD) " in the metal structure, and the forging quality varies depending on the level of utilization of this characteristic.
Understanding and maximizing the use of MFD characteristics is the key to achieving the ideal forged product.

By forging, the crystal grain size in the metal structure is increased, and the various properties (strength, elongation, etc.) of the metal are improved.The level of grain size depends on the capacity (pressure) of the forging press.

In addition, forged products have the characteristic that the metallic structure is aligned in the direction of deformation by compression, and MFD, which is like the image of plant fiber or wood grain, is created in the metallic structure, and the metallic properties generally show the maximum value in the direction perpendicular to the direction of MFD.As a result, the key to improving performance is to create a forged product with the ideal MFD characteristics for the wheel component.

In order to produce high quality forgings that make the most of the MFD characteristics, Marchesini forges using exclusive molds and presses capable of compression from multiple directions.

By adopting this system, the performance and reliability of each part of the wheel can be improved, and the most effective part of the system is to improve the performance of the rim.The basic load (impact and load) acting on the rim is input at an almost right angle from the road surface, and this forging method forms the MFD that shows the maximum value in the input direction on the rim, thus achieving both weight reduction and reliability (durability) at a high level.
[Structure: Structure]
Marchesini's wheels for the aftermarket are designed and developed with the pursuit of "high performance" as the top priority, not only for racing wheels but also for street wheels.
In this section, we will use the cutaway model of the rear wheel (M10R Corse) as a reference to describe the various parts.

●Hub section
The key is to design the hub bore as large as possible.The basic reason for this is that a larger hub inner diameter design leads to improved hub rigidity and a shorter spoke length, and thus enables both light weight and high rigidity.Marchesini's design philosophy for the hub structure, which can be said to be the foundation of the entire wheel, is consistent, and even in today's forged wheels where the final finish is achieved by CNC machining, the inside of the hub is finished into a large-diameter hollow one-piece structure with light weight and high rigidity by performing the time-consuming "boring process".

●Spoke section
Spokes are the pillars that support the rim, and their structure makes a difference in the weight reduction and rigidity of the rim.Basically, it can be said that the more spokes there are, the more advantageous it is to reduce the weight of the rim, for the simple reason that the distance between spokes can be shortened.However, if the number of spokes is simply increased, the mass of the spokes themselves will increase and this will be a negative factor in improving the performance of the wheel.Therefore, while aiming to reduce the weight of the rim, the design must also include the balance of rigidity of the wheel as a whole. Marchezini faces these conditions head-on and pursues a spoke design and cross-sectional structure that gives the highest priority to performance, knowing that the difficulty and cost of cutting will increase.

●Rim part
For a high performance wheel, the rim is the part where you want to achieve the most weight reduction to reduce the rotational inertia weight (moment).This effect is especially effective for motorcycles, but the weight reduction of rims requires very careful design from the viewpoint of strength and durability (safety).The current Marchesini wheels have established a rim structure that is both strong and light by adopting a unique forging method that allows the ideal MFD (Metal Flow Direction) to be formed while reducing the weight of the rim by pursuing a comprehensive balance with the hub and spokes. This product established a rim structure that is both strong and light.

●Fitting Parts
Each component of the wheel, such as the sprocket holder, disc attachment, and side collar, is made of duralumin material (A7075 / A2017) by CNC machining.Related products are also designed with great care for light weighting and making functional beauty.

We installed M7RS Gold Anodized in 2016 HG of ZX-14R.
At the same time we need to replace Exclusive Sprocket.

The OEM wheels are quite light to begin with, but the forged wheels are a little different. ISA's Exclusive Sprocket is a separate purchase. The play is gone. One word about the finish is wonderful.
